This painting, "Ceremony of Light" (16X20", Oil), was inspired by the Ceremony of Light that every Sunrise has to offer us. I took part part in this particular Sunrise while camped along the shore of Ft. Peck Reservoir last Summer. The sky was alive with radiant color as I offered my Asema (tobacco) to give thanks to Creator - and the ground at my feet was alive with a million toads, hopping EVERYWHERE (I left them out of the painting, to protect their privacy).
I like to tell my collectors that I only paint what I know and understand - and live.
I know and live Sunrise prayer.
Chi migwech, gakina awiiya!
Ceremony of Light Original Oil was sold at the McLean Festival in 2024.
