The 2008 Western Visions Miniatures and More Show at the National Museum of Wildlife Art featured a new award named after Robert Kuhn, the much-loved and highly respected wildlife artist, who passed away in the fall of 2007. John was honored by being the first to receive this award, given for the best submission in the category of artist's sketches, as determined by a panel of judges.
